If You Can Believe It, You Can Achieve It

by on July 28, 2010 · 29 comments ·

Do you know what all successful people have in common? I have always been fascinated by people who achieve great success and the one thing that they all have in common, is a strong belief in themselves. Highly successful people believe they can achieve anything they set their minds to and I don’t know of one successful person that didn’t have a strong belief that they would succeed.

You’re probably saying to yourself; is that all it takes to be successful or it can’t possibly be as easy as believing you’ll be successful and it will happen. Sure, it’s easy for me to say that but it really can happen.

I’m sure you must realize that there has to be more to succeeding than just a strong belief in yourself and to some degree you are correct. There are many people who believe they will be successful but the problem is, they are not willing to do anything to make it happen. Believe it or not, there are people who think they will wake up one morning and be a success. Unfortunately, the only thing those people will wake up to is a pleasant memory. If those dreamers really wanted to be successful, they would need to do more than dream about it.

If you have the desire to become successful and you believe you have what it takes, there is no reason why you can’t achieve success. The reason why you will become successful is your willingness to keep working at it until you achieve your goal and you know all your hard work will be worth the effort. You are willing to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes because you believe that you will be successful.

Many people achieve success in ways other than what we refer to as “conventional” methods. These are people who choose their own path and go against everything others tell them because they believe in doing things the way they want. Some of them drop out of college, while others may leave their career because they believe they can achieve success by their own methods. They believe in themselves!

And guess what? All those people would probably succeed even if they kept their jobs or finished college or did all the things others told them to do. I’m saying that because their belief is so strong, that they would succeed regardless of any other circumstance.

The lesson to be learned from all of this is; regardless of the path you choose, it really isn’t as important as your beliefs and your willingness to achieve whatever it is you desire. To put it another way, there are many different paths you can take and still achieve your goals. You may not be perfect and you may make mistakes along the way but as long as you believe in yourself and what you’re doing, you will achieve success.

Something to keep in mind is; if you don’t believe you will succeed, you won’t and if you do believe you will succeed, you will. If you’re willing to do what it takes and keep believing in yourself, you can achieve anything you desire.

To your great success!!

I like this type of post about motivation and belief! It looks like “The Secret” from Rhonda Byrnes which talking about believing in our dream, visualize them and get them! Our mind is really powerful and even one thought can change a world.

      Hi Lucy,

I’m familiar with “The Secret” and it is a very motivating and inspirational book. I’m honored that my post reminded you of that. :-)

Yes, the mind is very powerful and unfortunately we only use a small part of it.

      Thanks for your insightful comments.

It’s so nice when someone agrees with me. ;-)

Yes, you must be passionate but it’s just as important that you take action and do something with that passion.

      Thank you for commenting.

This is truly one of the best posts. Very inspiring and motivating. Believing in oneself is a must for those who want to be successful in their lives. I think it is similar to being confident. If you have the confidence then surely you have the belief. Isn’t it…Bob ? Now, the biggest question comes – How to have that belief? For me, it is all about gaining as much knowledge as possible, adding to my skills, learning from my mistakes and keep moving ahead. I remember, I was lacking the same 2 years back but I never gave up. Instead, I kept learning from my mistakes, created some goals and worked on the same. At many occasions in my life, I felt stressed and demotivated but I needed to forget it all and keep moving ahead which I did and today, I feel very satisfied with where I am. Still, a long long way to go. I agree Bob…it is all about believing in oneself.

Aswani, you brought up some excellent points.

I feel confidence and belief are two separate issues, however they both work hand in hand. Once you have a strong belief in yourself and know what you want to accomplish, you can then move forward with confidence. :-)

You have a great attitude towards life. When you are able to learn from your mistakes and motivate yourself to move on as you have, nothing will keep you from achieving your goals and desires.

      Thanks for the great feedback!

Here are 8 ingredients of success
    Passion
    Hard Work
    Be good at something
    Focus on one thing
    Push yourself (mentally and physically)
    Serve others
    Persistence
    Ideas

I think belief is a combination of passion and persistence. If you believe in some ideas, you should have passions in that topic and be persistence and do what ever it takes (push) to make it happen.

I don’t see how anyone could not succeed with those ingredients. :-) I would just like to add one more ingredient to your list…take action. A person may have all the resources and tools but failing to take action will get you nowhere.

Thanks for sharing you ingredients for success!

Well said Gary I love motivational posts. I have another site which I am not as active on that is all about desire and belief. I started that site for the same reasons you stated above believing in yourself.

The site has taken a turn but that is besides the point. Thanks for the inspiration!

      Hi Shabnam,

Glad you liked the post and found it inspiring. :-) I wanted the title to be something memorable so I revised the quote by Napoleon Hill: “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.”
