Fighting Spammers With Spam

One of our biggest nightmare are “Spammers” every blogger will tell you this they hate spamming and this seems to be on the increase and they are getting smarter and smarter every day. Looking at the types of Comments that are spam it is clear to believe that they are generate by humans, not by computer robots anymore ,yes you are reading right humans are paid to write spam comments on our blogs for cash. Since the beginning of this year i have deleted over nine hundred spam comments from my blog and still counting i think it is getting worst. Now it is time to fight back enough is enough.

Installing Plugins

This is a very good idea there are a few plug-in that help to control or limit the amount of spam comments that you received is good but although they are getting more and more sophisticated, from previous observations spam are not just computerised robots anymore they are now humans would you believe that website owners are now paying people to write spam comments on our blog. So using automated plug-in to detect if the entries are made by computer robots are now defeated.

Comment Filter

This is one of the most important extension i have installed on my blog, this can block spam comments in three different ways; (1) By their email address but remember most spammers don’t use their correct email address so option (2) comes in handy, what’s this you may asked? , let me explain this is blocking suspected commentators by their website or their URLs this is good because spammers are looking for back links to their websites. The third option is to enforce IP blocking this method is very effective as most spam comments are from the same IP address so this works well and i currently activates this option on my blog, this one helps to reduce spam comments by about 90 percent. Another good trick is to closed you post to commenting after a period of time this is not ideal but it works fine for me.

Returning the Spam

I know this may sounds silly but at one point i get so much spam comments pointing to a particular website won’t mentioned the name because that will be publicity for them that i got fed up and copy all the comments and post them back to their blog using the name “I hate Spam” it works that website never spam me again. You can say grabbing the bulls by the horns.`

Writing Guest Post

by lawmacs | 6. March 2010 23:15 Filed under: Blogging   10  Comments

I have been blog walking recently and came across a few post on numerous blogs talking about “Guest Postings” and their benefits so i have decided to add my views on this topic  although i have written a piece about this before and before you digest all this post i am just sharing my honest opinion and experience here. We as bloggers at some point might do guest post for other blogs but does it worth it well from my point of view it does. One element of this is that it generates back links to your website or blog and this is surely what every webmaster wants to achieved this could lead to better rankings and improve earnings.

There many good reasons why writing guest posts are important and worthwhile but to me the one that stands out is “Building Authority” by building authority i meant establishing yourself as a credible writer on the web some one with worthy articles some one your readers can look to for information so how do you do this you may asked ?, well for some of us it is simple write unique post share valuable and well thought out information for your readers try and inspire them let them earn your trust as some one credible.

We would all love to have a blog with hundreds if not thousands of subscribers and our post with three or four hundred comments, i have never done this but would love to wouldn't you? yes we all do and this is possible this is where writing “Guest Post” can help you and your blog. Writing good content for other blogs will help you generate the necessary visits to your website but this is as simple as it looks you then need to convert these visitors into loyal readers and make them your own.

To sum it all up writing Guest Post is brilliant and has its benefits that will surely benefit your blog positively however there is one thing you must always bare in mind is that if you write lots of guest Posts make sure that you keep you blog updated don’t just writes for others this can have a knock on effect on your blog. The positive impact is something you must plan for when i say plan for i meant that you must ensure that there are updated and fresh content on your blog so when the new visitors arrived there is something to interest them. My advice is to write post for other blogs at some point but if you are not a regular writing don’t write too much gust post that will put strain on you and then your personal website gets neglected. if you like this post please share the word by retweeting it share it with your friends sharing is caring and thanks for your support.

Designing Your Website

by lawmacs | 28. February 2010 00:19 Filed under: Web Design   13  Comments

My last post was titles “looking for Inspiration” many people think that i was moving away from my usual topic of Web Designing and other related fields in this post we will look at my favourite subject Website Design and if you look carefully i have just changed my website templates. One main piece of advice i would always give is whenever you are planning to design a website the first thing to bear in mind is the audience this is really important because they are the ones that are going to use the site although search engines are important but the usability is one of the key factor to any website success.

Design for User ability and Visibility

Your website should always be designed with your targeted audience in mind by this i meant if you are building a site about real estate then your target audience should be those looking information about real estate. Never be afraid to look at other successful website for inspiration take a leaf out of their book but don’t copy their design make sure your website stand out from the crowd blending in is not always the best thing i always advice to stand out from the crowd.

When you first launch your website or your client website you just speculate what the audience will be like or wants but after a few months live their will lots of tools to tell you what exactly the readers/visitors or doing on your website there and then you will be able to make the necessary adjustments needed to suit your client and to better planned your marketing strategies.  It is brilliant to have a well design site nice graphics some flash to enhance the appearance of the outcome but is it wise to choose style over substance ask yourself the question is worth it having a beautiful website but not indexed by the search engines, then now is the time to dig deeper and you realize that the inside was a complete mess your web design company id not pay any attention to the optimization of your website the ineffectiveness of your web designer just begins to hit you.

Do your Research

Having an effective website is one that is coded and written with search engine visibility and user friendliness in mind these sites usually gets better results from search engine traffic  the conclusion here is that you should design with your targeted audience in mind not just our personal preferences.
