4 Tips For Setting Goals

It feels a bit strange haven’t written a post since last year however it is a new year just a day old and this is the time when most of us start setting our Goals for the months ahead so let’s get cracking on. I do hope you all had a fantastic holiday and best of wishes to you all for the year 2011 which is expected to be just as challenging as the year before. What I am about to share with you in this post is 4 Tips for Setting your Goals. When setting your Goals makes sure that you think them through and be SMART.

1 Setting Your Goals

First and foremost this is where you begin. The first thing you need to do is ask yourself what are the most important things i need to achieve? Write these down no matter if it is blogging or personal but for clarity in this article we will focus on our blogging Goals make yourself a list of the five main Goals you are going to focus on. As a blogger let’s say your number one priority is your blog earnings yes Making Money is something we all inspire to so if that is your goal then make it realistic and achievable as possible not achieving your Goals can become heartbroken.

2 Having a Plan

There is old saying that I learn long ago which goes like this “If you fail to plan you plan to fail” so be careful for any business to succeed you need to have a plan. Planning is very important and is a crucial ingredient in the difference between success and failure. If you are looking at making say $5000 dollars from your blog this year then the best bet is to break it down into monthly earnings and work at it in stages, this will give you a clear indication where your plans are going.

3 Putting the Plan in Action

You have set your Goals and have a step by step plan drawn up now you need to put that plan into action. Most Bloggers fail because of this they set some Goals, draw up a great plan but do nothing with it. In every success stories you read about as Bloggers the call to action is always mentioned. You set yourself a Goal of $5000 earnings from your blog by year end but how are you going to do that? You might be planning to sell ad space or selling products but you need to get up and do it a plan don’t work by itself you need to put it into action.

4 Measuring and Evaluating your Success

You have done everything you set out to do up until now. Now you have come to the very crucial part of the puzzle measuring your success. Why? There is no other way to know if your hard work is paying off. If in your plan you have set smaller Goals like making $300 the first month you need to know if the method you set out in your plan to achieve is working. If you find that the plan is working then keeps doing what you are doing and improve on it else stop and adjust.

Let’s Recap

Set your Goals, make your plans put your plan into action and then measure and evaluate them. Bloggers it makes no sense setting Goals if you don’t put some form of plan in place then take action to ensure that they are working and measure and evaluate them that is the only way you are going to achieve your Goals.
