Are you making any money from your Blog? That is the million dollar question I put to you my fellow bloggers. Many of us started blogging to make a passive income and for some of us we fail and there are several reasons why we fail to make money from our blog. Blogging in itself is very competitive as there are so many of them popping up daily. So how do we beat the competition? Simple you have to be competitive by been competitive you have to keep yourself up to date with what is going on in the blog sphere.

Making money from your blog is not as simple as it is advertise by many, some present it as a simple A B C stuff but the reality is far from that. Don’t get me wrong there are quite a few bloggers out there earning lots of money from their blog. For me I would love to make a few dollars more from my blog but because I am in full time employment I don’t have the time to spend as I would like. I have made some money from my blog this year has started great now I am hoping that this trend continue that way.

So are you making money from your blog? If no then why are you not? The reason could be that you are in the Niche that are overcrowded and the competition is very tough you can change are look at what your competitors are doing nothing is wrong with peeping on the competition. Checking out what others are doing and try to emulate them is one way to learn. There are lots of bloggers who post their earnings online on their blog and the best part is that some of them state the program that they earn from so you have an idea which program is good to try.

Making money can be difficult but with some effort and determination you can make money from your blog. Choosing a program may it be advertising or an affiliate program to earn from is a good idea however you must do your research and remember that if it sounds too good then it maybe too good to be true. If you are not making money from your blog then you might want to add that as part of your new years’ resolution. Blog earnings is a good way to pay the bills and the hosting fee, I strongly believe that if you are running a self hosted blog it is important to make money to cover these bills.

So are you making money from your blog? What is your money making methods? If you are not making any money from your blog what are your plans for making money from your blog? Share your thoughts.

  1. Hi Lawmacs

I think you ask a very relevant question. Have been getting fed up with a lot of the sites around that are just encouraging newbies with empty promises and taking their money telling them that they can be instant successes.

I remember when I was searching for opportunities to have my own home biz. Got scammed several times. Then I discovered blogging. Poorer but wiser and grateful to the blogging community for all their help and encouragement now that I am setting up my fledgling business.

No empty promises, no silver bullet just hard work and lots of support from my blogging buddies.I am very blessed to be part of an active blogging community. Have connected to some experienced bloggers and marketers and they give heaps of free information on their sites. Also I ask lots of questions, and they are very helpful.

Invited one of my marketing friends to Guest Post on my blog so he could share with newbies his own experiences. Keeping it real and that’s what I want to do too.

Have sold more offline than online so far. But as my site has just had an upgrade I will be devising a plan for getting my products out there and I’m also writing an ebook so I have attainable goals for this year that I am working towards.

  2. Hi Gary,

I’m in one of the most competitive niches (Internet Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, Make Money Online) but I do make some money. Most of my earnings come from advertising and affiliate offers. I don’t make as much as I’d like but that was not my goal when I started my blog. My main goal was to share my sales and marketing knowledge and to help people succeed. Any money earned is a nice bonus. 😉

The money I do earn doesn’t come easy. It takes lots of work and continual testing of various offers to see which ones produce the best results. I also find blogging an enjoyable task and I’ll keep at it until the “fun factor” no longer exists. 🙂

  3. Nice read. Blogging is a good way to make money but at the same time you need a lot of patience and hard work and here most of the bloggers fail.

Adsense and affiliate programs are a good source of income for bloggers but you need find out by experimenting the best money money program for your blog.

    1. You are right about adsense and affiliate programs Shabnam they are two great money making tools for bloggers and website owners alike however sometimes they fail to do what we expected but the point of patience is the key ingredients to succeed

  4. I too have seen lots of empty promises about getting rich i was abit lucky not to spend anything online except for hosting fees the scammers are out there and are getting smarter so we need to asses everyone of these promises. Making money is not a three click process this takes hard work and lots of determination. The only thing three clicks does is take you money. Thanks for higlighting your experience.

  5. Great question Gary,

well I do make money from my blog, but that is because my blog promotes my services, so it is making a great deal of money for me and more and more leads each month. But as far as the passive income goes, I could do better. Like you said, it is better with each passing month as the blog is getting older, but the fact that I work full time is also not helping me to pay proper attention to a few things I would like to improve on my blog. But, in the end I am satisfied with the passive income coming from my blog, as this is a new blog and the sum I get each month from it is increasing, so I think I will reach the desired mark in less than 6 months, after that it’s just maintaining what I have built or even expanding it 🙂

  6. Nice Post lawmacs.

Blogging is one of the best way to make money online but it takes a lot of time and hard work.

I see many people start blogging and within 2-3 months end up with no results.
There is no reason of blogging just for money.

Most of my income comes from Affiliate Marketing and i have to say it is one of the best method to make money online.

My Plans for 2011 are providing value and building trust with my subscribers. I’m also thinking to create a product.

Anyways, Thanks for sharing this great Post. Great Work.

  7. It is pretty difficult to make money in a crowded niche without full time writing high quality articles, researching and testing for a year (when starting out) and then you’ll also not make a huge income over night but gradually.

  8. Hi,
My blog’s niche is share market and i am making some money from AdSense only. Though I have traffic around 2k per day but direct advertisers are not coming yet.

  9. It’s true it is difficult to make money by traffic, AdSence or direct advertisers. There are affiliate blog networks that bring marketing firms that will pay you per post $15 to $50 each if you write an article about them. This is all part of “viral marketing” concept.

Right now I was trying to figure out what are the differences between Blogger and WordPress to choose a best platform early. Here is my comparison: https://www.smartsoftwarereview.com/2011/01/how-to-make-money-with-internet-marketing-blog/

  10. If the blog is new one should never expect to make big bucks at the beginning, posting often and building backlinks should be the moto……with time money will flows 🙂

  11. Well, honestly yes, I am making money from my blog. And I was making it from the very beginning of my blogging but it was never a thing to be proud of. The money was just a result of some paid reviews which I stopped doing after sometime. I was fed up of the same and then I was looking for more natural ways to make money online like affiliate marketing and adsense. Unfortunately, I have failed with both but I haven’t yet given up. I am quite positive this time and now more as I have found my niche to blog upon. Money will surely come if I am having the much needed traffic on my blog…really need to work upon the same. Also, I have been trying hard to attract advertisers and have been successful to some extent. Hoping to attract more and more in the times to come….let’s see 🙂

  12. Hi Lawmacs,
Nice Motivational Thoughts, I am thinking of this 2 -3 Times but Cant find any way or Strategy to Implement on my Blogs. Thanks for Motivating me … I think this Time I Conduct a Research and Implement it to my Blog.

    Regards

  13. Hi Gary,
The age old question. Money. Does it come easy, no, is it hard to make money online, yes. But not impossible.
I think building a list is about the best way to make more money. Building relationships and making friends will go along way to. Why should people hand over their hard earned cash to someone they don’t know.
Don’t make empty promises, promote products you truly believe in and people will respect you more for it.
    Pete

  14. My blog is actually letting me earn through the services that I offer as a freelance SEO, and a few bucks from Google adsense and other ads. Although, I’m looking at direct advertisement this year, and to make that happen, I need to improve my blog’s traffic. But anyway, the main point is that I still get to enjoy what I’m doing with my blog (experiments, constantly learning and offering real value to those who’re able to visit it). I’m also thinking of getting into affiliate marketing (tried that one before, but I was more fascinated with case studies and self-research).

  15. If the blog has a high PR let’s say 3 then making money with it will not be that hard. I am trying Google Adsense and Affiliate to make money with my blog, I wasn’t to successful until now, but I will try more.

  16. I am making money to my blogs but I’m just a new blogger that’s why I don’t know how much I can earn this month.

  17. Of course Making money is not a three click process this takes hard work and lots of determination. The only thing three clicks does is take you money. Thanks for higlighting your experience.

  18. I think that this is a great post especially for newbie bloggers or anyone else who may be under the impression that making money online by blogging will be easy. I myself am new to blogging, but I am already well aware of the fact that it will take hard work to become a successful blogger.

I have been making money online since August 2010, but I’ve not been able to make money from blogging thus far. I have only been blogging for a few months and I know that it will take time. However, if I don’t make tons of money from blogging I will be fine with what I am currently making from other sources. Blogging has really become one of my favorite hobbies.

  19. I do get this question a lot from my visitors and I simply tell them that I don’t ’cause some of them when told so, immediately go out and spend on domain and hosting and a few weeks down the line, they come nagging that they haven’t made a dime and that they were fed lies.

I do make money off my blog but it’s not up to the level of being referred to as residual income. I maintain my main employment at the hospital as it pays way better and in my past time, I do a little blogging. It’s fun though to see my traffic go up as well my Google Adsense earnings. Profits from affiliate marketing are somewhat on the low side anyway 😉

  20. i agree with you making money through blogs is not an easy way to earn money ..this way needs a lot of skills and hardworking
