How overdose of content and links backfire your website?

March 15, 2012 Posted by Gary Link Building 57 Comments

You cannot expect every time a good result by doing too many good things together. This is highly relevant especially when you are talking about trying too many contents and links for your search engine optimization. In fact, when you plan for any SEO strategy, trying too many good things like content and links will always backfire. It is therefore important to understand the dynamism and ways of using contents and links for effective SEO of your website or blog. So, let’s understand how too many links and contents create problem for you. Or in other words, what are the repercussions of using them.

Demerits of using too many links

Links are regarded as the lifeline of any website or blog; these are the elements which brings you a good traffic. Hence while link building procedure you need to count on them for your SEO tactics. The world of SEO is highly volatile and unpredictable as search engines keep on changing their rules too often.

Hence it is important to have a sufficient level of links to make things easy for the SEO. With links, you define how the website manages its position in search engine results. There are many positive things and aspects about link building, however, the way you use links make the difference.

Too many links in any SEO campaign can certainly do some damages rather than doing something good for your website. Indeed using link building in a proper order can bring good results for your website; however, crossing your limits can hamper your ranking of your websites.

All the major search engines, especially Google suggest having a decent number of links in your pages; however, you are not supposed to go beyond 100 links per web page. There are few SEO experts who believe and vouch that by having more than 100 links can make you a spammer, therefore degrading your website quality. With such low quality of web pages, you can certainly expect to hamper your rankings over the search engines like Google.

Hence if you are serious about your rankings and quality of your website, make sure you do abide the rule of not exceeding beyond 100.

Demerits of using too much content

Certainly content is regarded a key thing, however, it does not mean that you simply overdose with too much of content. If you manage to bulge a huge number of content in just one page, then you have chosen not to index over the popular search engines. The search engine spiders dislike such websites who have cluttered and all type of irrelevant stuff or content in limited space. Hence such sites would never be indexed over the popular search engines. Moreover, with too many content you can create a negative impression with CTR and the conversion rate of your site also seen getting affected to a great extent. Too much of content can overwhelm your visitors and people coming to your sites would simply choose to find your alternative. However, content writing on web is different as compared to the other mediums of writing.

Now you can understand how too many links or too much of content can prove fatal to your website ranking. So while you are considering any SEO strategy, make sure you avoid using too many links or content in your website, otherwise you may be disregarded by the search engines, which means that your traffic is affected. Hence simply follow this rule for effective search engine optimization.

I actually just worked on one of my blogs yesterday in an effort to better organize and rework the content to avoid a penalty from Google. Thanks for sharing this though; more and more content is constantly being pushed on bloggers and this certainly makes the case as to why “too much of a good thing” can even exist in the blogging community.

The problem with many SEO companies is that they do all the work over a few days so there will a mass of links all pinged in and then nothing for a month. It’s worth checking that links can be dripped in over a regular period of time.

SEO is the technique of increasing web rank in most popular search engine. Search engine ranking system requires excellent combination of content and links on web page. As above given information, the content and links has some limitation otherwise website goes to spamming. It is important for content that it must be unique and doesn’t include same keyword more then 7 times per 100 words in web page.

Actually it is pretty simple “quality matters not quantity”. Even though Google don’t like the tricks that try to ruin their algorithm. The real point of SEO is to optimize your website for visitors and users. If you do it in the right manner then much of the SEO takes care of itself.

And when it comes to the website promotion then one thing need to said, links are not for any kind of optimization, it is for advertisement of your website.

Linking is something that can subtly. One only has to hint at a connection. As 9/11 and Sadam are linked repeatedly yet Bush can say they are not connected. Yet a majority of citizens believed (at one time) that the 9/11 hijackers were Iraqi because of the verbal linkage.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s 10 likes or 5000 links, as long as they are consistant and natural looking then it’s fine. For example this site may get 100 links a day, whereas blogs like mashable and wired would probably be getting thousands a day. it depends how big your website is.

Too many links targeting towards your website doesn’t mean that your website will do good in search engines rather links coming from relevant and quality sites. Same in the case of content. If your website don’t have original, logical, and user friendly (understandable by readers) then your website is in danger. Thanks for this informative post, this post will helps a lot for a website owner to rank their website in search engine.
