Building a successful link exchange can be very rewarding although it has its advantages and disadvantages. We all know that linking to banned sites can cause harm to our website or even get them banned by some Search Engines and this is not good for your websites.  There are several ways to exchange links with other websites, Reciprocal link Exchange ,One way link exchange and link farms. Getting one way link may be one of the easier way of finding links pointing back to your website. How this is done you might asked ? , simple go blog walking and comments on other blogs, get active in social media websites.

Reciprocal Link Exchange

This is a link for link exchange agreement or a link exchange between two websites or Blog. This is one of the more common request we received for exchanging links but this has its drawbacks . Let us look at a scenario here you started a link building campaign and set your target at about three hundred links back to your website. If you goes through the Reciprocal link exchange route that means you need to put that same number of links on your blog. This will bear heavily on your website .

One Way Link Exchange

This is by far the best way to exchange links back to your website having links pointing back to your blog can show to robots and spiders that your blog is of  importance . One good way of building one way links is by having great content, Content that other bloggers will freely link back to your content by far i this is the best form of one way linking. Submitting to link directories is another great way to achieve your goal there are free and paid directories that offers this, check them out first make sure that they are not some scam or link farms as with every thing you do approach with caution.

In summary building a successful link exchange campaign is very time consuming unless you uses paid services and remember a good link building campaign can bring you direct traffic to your blog but most importantly the main reason for building link exchanges should be to increase your search engine visibility. Buying a link in the yellow pages directory will bring you readers which with great content you will convert into customers. Remember every time a blog or website link back to your website that acts like a vote or some  form of recommendation to your site so the more vote your site gets the better ranking you will achieve by Search Engines.

  1. Nice article. Link Exchange..I am no more into it. I think I have had enough of it in the beginning when I was new to this blogging thing and had to concentrate more into blog marketing. I did it successful for six months and was paid in the form of a good google page rank plus some very decent traffic. Now, I am all into this link baiting, which I believe is much more rewarding in comparison to the traditional link exchange methods. I think I’ve been quite lucky off late as I have been getting tonnes of natural links for my site. And that truly satisfies me 🙂

  2. Quality Link exchange is very important for bloggers/webmasters .One must avoid too much link exchange as it will lead to link farming. One way link from high PR directories will increase traffic to your blog.

  3. Thanks for you valuable comments i do agree with you link baiting is the more popular of the two however way we look at it we still need thses links poiting to our website to improve our rank and traffic.

  4. One way linking is best for our website however from directories sometimes your link are too deep and not easily found but i agree with you sis from a good PR directory site certainly helps.

  5. Link exchange, yes been there and done that. 🙂 I used to take exchanging links very seriously as a new blogger, but now aiming more towards natural links with original, quality content. Being a DoFollow blog I may have given out more link loves than I supposed to but temporarily, it’s an appreciation for fellow commenters. I do noticed some drawbacks of being a DoFollow for link droppers will try whatever methods to get approved, and sometimes they success in tricking me. Not easy.

Thanks for giving me something to ponder about.

  7. Good informative article. I was gung ho on link building many months ago and it did help improve my ranking but it can be very time consuming. Now, I find it much more rewarding to post comments on popular, quality, high ranking blogs. I found that to be effective in bringing new traffic and increase ranking.

  8. That is true Robert commenting on blog with good Ranking can be valuable and rewarding as i mentioned building links is good but imagine exchanging links with 200 sites you would have to put the same amount of links on your site. I totally agree with you.

  9. As a beginner blogger I am searching for link exchange with some active and original blogs and will continue till getting some better ones.Agree with you we can’t put those heavy number of links to our site but we should look for those one way links for more and increased visibility in terms of ranking and traffic.

  10. Thanks for your support getting one way back links is the better of the two option ut remember that link building campaign is a long process and needs dedication to get it right.

  18. Good idea to increase back link. But here is a problem. High PR websites do not response other wise they say to keep their link in homepage. It’s a great problem.

  19. Most bloggers and Website owners share the same goal: build an enormous amount of traffic. Link exchanges, around since the Web’s inception, have helped foster this goal. And recent programs like BlogRush and Entrecard allow you to receive targeted traffic will no effort.

  20. Exchanging with high PR blogs certainly works, but many high PR blogs won’t accept link exchange I bet! 🙂
